How Bout A Double Shot of...Double Standards?

After watching a clip of Ray J on the Tyra Banks show, talking about Reggie Bush getting "sloppy seconds" and Kim Kardashian basically being a publicity junkie, it's apparent that some famous black men have some major double-standards when it comes to dating.

Yes, Ray J is a tool (and Tyra is sooooo annoying), but it was interesting how he talked about the women in his past on the show.

Men have egos, and Black men have big ones. No man I know wants to "wife" a girl who's been around the block, especially when the whole world knows it.

Kim Kardashian is a beautiful girl with a great body and wonderful fashion sense...who became famous because of a (perfectly scripted) sex tape. Reggie Bush is a successful, handsome black man who could have any woman he wants. Yet, he chooses to get into a serious relationship with one whom all his buddies and his family have seen being schtupped by another dude on camera. No matter what legal action is taken, that tape will always be part of their future.

So it got me thinking about powerful and/or famous black men and whether they would be willing to date a black woman who is perceived as "sloppy seconds". I can't think of one example. LOL. Sanaa Lathan allegedly got blacklisted from Hollywood because it was rumored that she'd had an affair with a married A-list actor; don't think she's had a serious relationship since. When Carmelo Anthony started dating LaLa, there was so much talk about how he could do so much better - and she didn't even have a sex tape!

Bottom line: there is no black powerful man who is seriously dating black woman with a sketchy past. They may shtup 'em, but they certainly won't have them on their arm at black tie events. Inneresting, ennit?

But what am I on about? Whitney Houston is a crackhead, but Amy Winehouse is just a gifted, tortured artist...
