Full Disclosure or Another Case of TMI?

Mary, NC
I LOVE your blog. It is my new favorite!I am separated and dating for the first time in a longgg time. The guys love me and I love them.So in the dating world, how much do you disclose to your dates?Oh, and why when you tell a guy you no longer want to sleep or see him, doesthat make him seem to like you more and become way more attentive?

Why thank you, Mary...and so sorry for taking so long to answer your question. Welcome to the wonderful world of dating! If it wasn't for dating, many of my loyal readers wouldn't have ever met the charming, vivacious person known as SE (well, online anyway).

Dating is wonderful, ennit? Regarding your queston about how much to disclose, I may not be the BEST person to answer your question, considering my penchant for providing way more information than is needed. LOL. But I say for the first date, less is more. Don't go into a diatribe about your no-good husband (I'm assuming that he's no good since y'all are separated - a totally presumptuous line of reasoning, since you could very well be the no-good partner) and for God's sake, if the "longgg time" also references sex, then don't disclose that on the first date either.

Dudes, for the most part, will lose their entire minds when they hear that a woman hasn't had sex in a long time. For some reason, no matter how you say it, it translates differently to them. It's almost like a second deflowering of sorts. LOL.

If dude asks you out on a second date, then before you go, disclose your separated status. The first date is really to see if there's chemistry there; if he's asking you on a second date, he's obviously interested (or has nothing better to do, but again we're making a presumption that you're pretty hot - 'cos only amazing-looking people read my blog - except for that one dude).

Here's the caveat: if dude asks you about your status on the first date, then disclose it, but don't go into all the gory details. You don't want to be dishonest, but you don't want to have travel with too much baggage either.

Now for your second question: disinterest always piques interest - in both men and women alike. That's why good guys and gals finish last most of the time. It's that whole "thrill of the hunt" crap...we like the challenge. LOL.

Let me know how you get rid of him...I'll add it to my best practices.

IS, for some reason they tend to think that THEY WILL GO where many men have failed b4...they don't really register the "single and celibate by choice" thing...so it becomes a challenge to them to turn the frigid wall flower into some blooming hot house tramp LOL
