Heel, Boy, Heel!
So apparently I'm single because I don't wear high heels. Not because I'm picky or because I have some slight neuroses (which I'm working on), but because I have an affinity to Converses and Pumas.
I'd like to take credit for this little slice of sheer genius, but I'm afraid it goes to one of my male friends. Apparently, I could've been in a solid, well-adjusted relationship, if I'd only invested in with shoes with a couple of inches. (I wonder how well-adjusted such a relationship could possibly be if dude was attracted to me solely on my choice of footwear?)
It's true, I do get more attention from men when I wear heels, or a low cut top, or tight jeans, or a short skirt, but I'd much rather be comfortable and overlooked than uncomfortable and ogled. Ogling usually makes me uncomfortable anyway.
Gone are the days when I'd come limping home at 5 a.m. and walking at snail's pace. Gone are the days when I'd go to the club, dance a few songs, then spend the rest of the night on the couch with my shoes off.
Should I have to suffer to get a date? I think not.
Besides, are some men really that superficial?

i think it depends on the guy. some guys like a laid back not frilly doesnt take 2 hours and 45 minutes to get ready woman and some like the perfect hair, manicured nails, and toes and look like they just stepped out the magazine woman. i say keep wearin what makes you comfortable.
and oglers creep me the hell out too...especially old men!! im only 22 and at the most id say i could look 25 bc of where i work and stuff (and that may be a strech) so i feel like a man over 33 has NO GOTDAMNED business xray visioning me and trying to imagine what color my panties are!!
I think if a man really cares all that much about your footwear it's a big red flag (unless you're also a foot person).
And I hate oglers too. Why do they think they are paying me a compliment? I just want to run home and draw the curtains.
OH MY GOD!!! Are you me?.... LOL. Apart from the fact that dude whoever he is is obviously talking a load of bull crap. I sooo feel you on the heels issue. Just talking about it the other day. Gone are the days... I refuse to bother anymore. I mean for all the years I wore heels it never worked like dude is suggesting so guess what?.. Plan B. I think you need to be comfy enough in your own skin to say enough of the torture just for the sake of attracting the opposite sex. Besides, I've never seen a female with a pain-filled 3a.m. grimace while limping out of the club and thought " Wow, that's hella sexy."
And yes men are that superficial... but not all of them. So me and my flats/flip flops live in hope.
@Pink. 33 isn't that old...When I was 21 I was dating a 32 year old. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. ;)
LOL @ GC's profile picture (how appropriate) and "drawing the curtains".
@Goddess: I'm every woman...LOL. I just read something in the Times that flip flops are really bad for your feet. I guess I'm gonna be an arthritic, single, old woman who ends up being eaten by the neighbor's cat. LMAO.
give alittle get a little. its a scarifice :). IT not like you have to wear then ALL THE TIME!
Sacrifice, huh? I'll remember to use that when I want to go to a chick flick. LOL.
Besides, I have amazing legs...I don't need heels. And they're only appropriate for the bedroom, anyway. LMAO.
i love heels! as for that being the reason you're single? hilarity!
well
there are guys out there who like hairy women so im sure you'll find one that likes all the sneaks and flats look too..... "every hoe..."
LOL i r jus playing around but on the real platforms are REAL comfortable when clubbing, those and wedges are my clup/party shoes, i hate to see women kick the heels of and partying bare foot so i scope out the all-night heels
so not even to work? I KNOW you wear heels sometime right? cus u caan like fashionweek and not be a heels kinda girl!
btw...LB is THAT superficial...he'll not talk to a girl if her toes are wack...so yeah to the question!
First off Men are that superficial its in their DNA.
I have grown out of the Sneaker era. I used to only wear sneakers and my overly west indian mother would tell me that they messed up your feet and that where she was from they only wore shoes.
So I listened and invested in my first pair of heels when I was 18 and I have yet to look back, gone are the days of Jordans, and Puma's and Converse. But I do have my flip flop days, and my gym sneakers are so worn through.
There is something about a woman's strut in a pair of heels. I can see why men ogle. Its the sway of the hips ladies, and though I don't like getting hissed at or whistled at ( I am not a cab nor a damn cat) I do love the way I look in heels. It elongates the legs of this short lady! If you can then do,and if you can't then its ok too!
Lord now that's reaching for an excuse.
After all I wear the heels and Im still single...
He just silly. For the record most of my boyfriends have always wondered why i can't just running shoes....
