I'm Moving...(Part 2)

One of my dearest friends in the whole wide world is moving to Trinidad tomorrow. I don't think I've quite come to grips with it just yet, but I'll probably go through my period of depression next week when she's gone.

We met online years ago, and have been good friends since. Ironically, everyone says we bear a striking resemblance to each other, some have even asked if we're twins. We get mistaken for each other aaaaalll the time, and I used her as my convenient scapegoat when I ran into a dude I'd met at speeddating that I never called. ("That wasn't me...that was my twin sister!!")...Hehe.

So last week, we all went dancing for Twin's bon voyage party. Throughout the course of the night about 4 different guys came up to me, flirted and asked me to dance...until they found out that I wasn't the one leaving (except for the little midget dude who just wouldn't leave me alone...but that's another entry for another time). After I said I wasn't going anywhere, the interest waned.

When I was in college, another friend of mine left school to move to Florida. The day she announced that it would be her last semester, all of a sudden, dudes started coming out of the woodwork. Exes, guys she'd flirted with, some she'd secretly liked but never said anything. Everyone wanted to take her out on a date.

All of a frickin' sudden. So what's the big attraction to people who're moving?? Maybe it's the prospect of being able to get some no-strings-attached lovin' before departure; or maybe the thought of the person no longer being around makes one realize how much they cared for the person to begin with; or maybe people who're moving emanate this I-don't-give-a-fuk-cause-I'm-leaving-vibe, which just makes them even more attractive to the opposite sex...whatever it is, it seems to open up a whole avenue of dating possibilities.

But what is theory without application? Nothing! So I've decided to test out this theory myself....hehe.

I'm moving back to Jamaica on April 28...

Hmmm. First I've heard of this phenomenon. I will have to watch out for it.
Are you really moving back to JA?

Get outta town! You're leaving too!! I swear there is a bug in the air. First Rory, then my girl moved to Japan, then Ericka, then Ab and now you! Good lord, might as well do it while you can though.

I've never heard of this phenomenon either, so as mad bull I'll have to look out for it.

LOL @ Ness...mebbe it's an American thing? I dunno.

@Queenbea & Mad Gyal: Not all of us have the aplomb to pick up and go to JA or Japan juss so, y'know...hehe.

@COE: I'm afraid the only people that get my sarcasm are me, you, 16% and the voices in my head...hmmm, maybe you and 16% don't really exist; what if y'all are the voices in my head??

LOL whateva, heffa....just make sure I get invited to
the going away party, 'mkay ROFL

and you know WHY they come out of the woodworks....as most men think about only one thing...there's an automatic assumption that with the coming departure there will also be a taking leave of inhibitions....that last hurrah with possible chance of an attachment...

so ah, where in Trini is your twin going? We may actually meet up in March LOL

I found it interesting that you met one of your "dearest friend" online.

I'm kinda just getting used to the idea of people meeting their boyfriend/husband online, don't think I've heard of a good buddies online hookup before.
