The YMCA Is Fun Again

Soooooo, remember Dreamy Dread, the guy from the YMCA? Well, I recently saw him again after 3 months.

Guess it was fate, because the day I saw him, I wasn't gonna go to the gym, but since I'd missed the previous day, I decided to go. I left my house at 8:00 and when I got outside and felt the wind, I almost turned back. It was frickin' freezing!!! But I persevered. The minute I walked into the gym I noticed him out of the corner of my eye...and I began to sweat profusely. I literally broke out into a cold sweat. I felt it running down my back and collecting in my armpits. I took forever to take off my coat and store my stuff in a locker hoping some of it would dry before I had to greet him.

Then I went over...there was that awkward, should-we-hug-shake-hands-or-what? thing. I guess we both didn't want to make a fool of ourselves because we just let the moment pass. I asked him what he'd been up to. He asked me where I'd been these last few months. Apparently we'd both been going to the gym, and just missing each other somewhere along the way. I asked him about school; he asked me about the FDNY exam. We chatted for about 5 minutes, then I began my workout. I kept staring at him in the mirrors, and sometimes out of the corner of my eye, I think I saw him looking back at me too. He left while I was on the elyptical.

After my workout as I left, one of the trainers approached me. "Dreamy Dread wants me to give you his number," she said. "He was waiting around for you to be finished, but he had to leave so he asked me to give it to you." I think I managed to keep the huge grin off my face until I got outside. LOL.

I didn't know whether I should call him that night or wait until the next day. I called Heather for backup. After 32 minutes on the phone agonizing over whether or not I should call him back, I decided to. He answered; he'd already been half-asleep. I felt a little bit like a loser. I should've waited until tomorrow, I thought. Too late now.

We talked briefly; he asked if I would be in the gym the following night. I said yes. He said he'd stop by "not to work out, just to stop by". I felt the big grin come back. I told him I needed to do more work on my upper body in preparation for the FDNY; he offered to help. I resisted the urge to tell him how much I'd prefer him to help me work on my lower body, and instead told him that would be fantastic. Then we hung up.

Needless to say, he didn't show up at the gym the following day, and I haven't seen him since. LMAO. I'm such a sucker...LOL. But I still love the Y!

And-a lift...and down...and-a two...and down...

LOL @ Search: why he gotta be a game player? Maybe he's buried under a foot of snow (never mind that we only had a few inches), or maybe he got caught up with something else. I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. And this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that he's fooooiiner than a set of snow tires.

@IJ: This year I'm being the chasee, not the chaser.

@Adrian: I hope to high heaven he didn't come across my blog, because then I can reasonably expect never to hear from him again. LOL. I've got this thing all figured out...they're supposed to fall in love with me first, THEN I tell 'em about the blog. Hehe.

@Kimba: Yeah, he did lose a couple cool points for that high-schoolish, give her my number gag...Trust me it was noted. LOL. I hope you're cuter than said echidna...:)

Dreamj: I did have an hour-long conversation with him one day by the side of the street...don't know if that's enough to say I'm diggin him, but definitely attracted. And again the fact that he's hot has NOTHING to do with this. LOL.

LMAO @ Madbull...tough crowd. Damn, why you have to be all cynical? *sucks teeth* He probably does though...

See what a little smile and a dash of approachability can accomplish! :)

Respect for not thinking the worst of the guy because he didn't show up. I'm sure he has a reason. I know it doesn't even have to be a good one; pretty much ANY plausible reason would do right?
