Big Cats Are Dangerous, But A Little Pussy Won't Hurt

So as if I wasn't picky enough already, I've found an entirely new category of questionable male: The Single Male Cat Owner. Unless he works in a zoo, inherited the animal from a previous relationship, or said cat is a lion or a tiger, I don't think I could date a cat owner. I think it's just a very weird pet for a man to have...I can't explain it.

The Single Male Cat Owner comes in a few categories. When I'm done, you'll probably agree with me that dudes who own cats for the sake of owning them are just plain creepy (no pun intended).

The Gay Dude: Instinctively when I hear that a guy has a cat, this is the first thing that pops into my head. I dunno why. Maybe it's because for me the cat represents a really vindictive animal (ironic considering that Twin had a dog who used to piss in front of my bed room door every day) who'll scratch your eyes out in a minute - which kinda reminds me of a couple gay guys I know. Or maybe it's a Freudian thing. LOL.

The White Dude: I just can't see a black dude going out and buying a cat of aaaaaalll the pets in the store...unless he falls into the previous category. I was doing some research on celebrity cat owners: George Bush, Jay Leno, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, James Dean, Gary Oldman, Justin Timberlake...see what I mean?

The Homeless Dude: Ever notice that you rarely ever see a homeless guy with a dog? Think about it. Everytime I've seen a homeless dude with a pet, it's always been a cat (except for that one guy on the corner of 5th Avenue and 51st street with the one leg).

The Breakup Inheritance Dude: He's the guy who had a long (possibly live-in) relationship with a cat lover. He bought her the cat as a gift and when they broke up she decided that she wanted nothing to remind her of him, so he's stuck with the cat. He's actually developed an attachment to the little critter, so he can't bring himself to give it up. This dude I understand, and I'd date him...we'd just spend most of our time at my house though....:)

I don't know what's stranger: that this matters to me, or that I've sat here and given it so much thought. You'd think that the arch-enemy of the lizard would be my best friend, right? LOL. I'm a walking oxymoron, I tell ya.

Where are all the male cat lovers? Hehe.
