This Is Me Not Blogging About Mr. Anonymous
I really really really like Mr. Anonymous (not to be confused with Mr. A who posts on my blog all the time). So much in fact that I decided pretty early on that I would be selfish and not share him with the world. And I've pretty much stuck to that decision...but he's such a sweet person with a great spirit and I'm so happy I know him that I had to share just a teensy bit of the joy of knowing him.
He's the only guy I've told about my blog who thought it was "wonderful that I could use my writing to make people laugh and lift others' spirits" instead of being shallow and worrying about when he was going to be on it and how I'd make him look.
He's the only guy I've told about the hurtful experience of my first love who thought that my "ability to care so deeply about another person was one of the most beautiful things about me and made me more desirable" instead of assuming that I'd be bitter and jaded with the whole experience.
He does the sweetest, most thoughtful little things...and they're always unexpected and bring a smile to my face.
And most of all, he's my friend (who I just happen to like a lot and wouldn't mind if he was more than my friend...LOL).
But as yall know, I gave up hope that anything more would ever happen because Mr. Anonymous is a turtle - an even bigger one than Original Turtle.
We'd often talked of traveling together, since it was something we both like to do. But the slower he crawled, the more certain I became that it would never happen. Until last week.
When he suggested we take a trip to another continent, I couldn't call to book fast enough. It didn't matter that it wasn't the part of that continent I wanted to visit on my first trip there. I didn't care that I needed to get three vaccines, a visa and God-knows-what-else. I didn't check whether I had enough money in my account to cover the reservation. I didn't ask for the time off from work. And the tentative travel plans I'd made with the Original Turtle went straight out the door. It didn't matter that we were only going as friends. I just booked. I think I now hold the world record for fastest booking ever (in your face, Orbitz!).
So in a few months, I'm off on a friendly trip with Mr. Anonymous...I'm so excited!!
This is me not blogging about it...

Ooh! A trip to a foreign land with a wonderful guy sounds great!
"...oh baby you, you got what I need, but you say he's just a friend..."
So how awkward will it be going out of the country, two single black people, as 'just friends?'
I'm going to have to quote Dr. Phil on this one..."Let me know how that works out for you."
Might I suggest you clear up the anonymity (No pun intended)before going? I would want him to declare his major before I promote him to travel companion. Friend or foe?
Will there be separate rooms? Are you going dutch? Is this another 'Starving Artist situation? So many questions.
Oh, one more, are the tickets non-refundable?
BTW, is that Bilal in the photo?
LOL @ Say Yeah...
1. It won't be awkward. We go tons of places now as "just friends"...so I don't see how anything would be different.
2. He has declared his major. He's my friend. Because I like him as more and get "the vibe" that he might have some of those feelings, doesn't change that we're friends.
3. No separate rooms
4. We're going dutch
5. Definitely not another Starving Artist situation
6. Deposit is non-refundable, but I'm not worried because we're definitely going. :)
P.S. I'm still not blogging about him. Hmmmpfh!!
No, that's not Bilal...doesn't he have long locks?
You know travelling is the biggest test of friendship plutonic or otherwise, I wish you the best, but tred carefully....So where you going??
Cool! Tell that depression in your sofa that you won't be missing him :)
